JOB TITLE:                                      Art Director

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:         Design Studio Manager


 JOB SUMMARY:     The Art Director is responsible for delivering outstanding visual executions for InVision’s clients in the presentation, digital, motion, print and show space. This person will also provide leadership in fostering and curating the culture of the InVision Design Studio through mentoring of in-house resources and curating of creative platforms and communication trends.  The Art Director is responsible for concept, design and execution of all project elements in a variety of categories that push the boundaries of creative excellence as well as manage a team of designers who support this effort.

 Overall Responsibilities:

  • A strong background, with 5+ years of visual design experience and experience in an Art Director role or similar
  • Collaborate directly with clients and project teams to understand client objectives and project design requirements
  • Develop and present standout creative executions that are creatively and visually engaging and support agreed upon goals and strategy
  • Provide art direction, guidance and coaching to staff of designers
  • Create cross-channel visual communication strategies (digital, presentation, print, motion, environmental)
  • Consult with external creative resources and specialists to achieve project goals
  • Stay current with trends in design and technology
  • Maintain a high standard of executional quality including review and collaboration with design teams to communicate appropriate feedback
  • Deliver design solutions that meet client briefs and satisfy budgetary and schedule constraints
  • Work closely with Studio Manager and Studio Project Manager, updating on project progress, QC and designer performance throughout project lifecycle
  • Work with the proposal team on proposal strategy and development and present proposals to clients in pitch situations
    • Special projects as assigned by Studio Manager and Director, Creative and Strategic Communications


  • Excellent project management skills, includes the ability to juggle multiple projects, budgets and deadlines
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas and creative processes to all levels of audiences and within formal presentations
  • Ability to effectively coordinate and direct designers work
  • Understanding of design for experiential and event executions
  • Passion for providing excellent service and quality
  • Proficient in aspects of visual composition, layout and image enhancement
  • Great sense of composition, typography and visual timing
  • Ability to engage in detailed visual storytelling
  • Ability to effectively coordinate and direct designers work

 Your Toolset:

  • Expert-level user of Adobe CS
  • Proven expertise in experiential design
  • Advanced knowledge of designing for Print, Media and presentations including PowerPoint and Apple Keynote
  • Working knowledge of motion-graphics and video editing packages (AfterEffects, Final Cut)
  • Familiarity with mobile and digital development workflows, wireframing, etc.
  • Comfort authoring for mixed Mac/PC environments

 HOURS:  The normal working hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. (40 hours a week), however due to the nature and the scope of the position hours may be flexible.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Ability to perform job duties that may include an average amount of lifting (+ or – 25lbs.), sitting, bending, stooping and standing is required.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:  Moderate travel is associated with this position.  Travel for INVISION related business is reimbursable at the amount allotted under state & federal guidelines.  An expense sheet must be submitted for reimbursement

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:  This position requires a minimum of 5 - 7 years of print and digital and/or media experience in an agency environment.
